Top 10 PlayStation Horror Games in the PlayStation Store Halloween Sale

Sony has slashed the prices of a ton of terrifying titles just in time for everyone’s favourite season. With a decent mix of PS4 and PS5 games, there are some pretty great games to be had. Here are our top 10 PlayStation horror games you can pick up now in the PS Store Halloween sale. Be quick though, the sale ends on Wednesday 3rd November.

10. Vampyr

Vampyr is a narrative-driven action-RPG from DONTNOD (who bought us Life is Strange) set in the cruel streets of London in 1918. Playing as newly-turned Vampyr, Dr Jonathan Reed, you must find a cure for the plague that’s decimating the City before it’s too late.

Cursed to feed upon those who you vowed to help, you navigate the squalid back alleys, fight against Vampyr hunters and use your supernatural abilities to gain the upper-hand.

Whilst we wouldn’t necessarily agree that this is a horror game first and foremost, Vampyr is a dark world full of mystery and death just waiting for you to explore.

DONTNOD recently released a performance patch, with the game now playing in 60FPS at 1440p.

You can pick Vampyr up now in the PlayStation store Halloween sale for only £8.74/$9.99 or completely free for PS Now subscribers.

Perfect for you to sink your teeth into this Halloween.

9. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope is the second instalment in the titular collection from game giants Bandai Namco.

Abandoned and alone in the mysterious town of Little Hope, you guide 4 college students in search of escape from the hellish visions that haunt them from the past.

Little Hope has great replay value, as each run has multiple storylines paths and ending for you to discover. Not only that, but each decision you make can have massive repercussions on who lives and who dies.

Right now, you can trial the game absolutely free of charge on the PlayStation store. But if you fancy your chances of escape, you can purchase the full game for £12.49/$14.99 in the Halloween sale.

8. The Medium

The Medium is a third-person psychological horror game from Polish devs, Bloober Team.

Playing as Marianne, a quick-witted Medium with psychic abilities, you explore the real and spirit world simultaneously to uncover a chilling mystery closely guarded by sinister spirits and malevolent forces.

Guiding Marianne around the abandoned Communist vacation resort, you piece together the unspeakable events that occurred here through unique puzzles that cross between the real world and the spirit world.

We reviewed The Medium recently on PlayStation, you can check out what we thought about it here.

Despite only being released in September, The Medium has already been discounted and is available to buy for £33.74/$37.49 on the PlayStation Store.

7. Until Dawn

Fans of teen horror movies should definitely check out this interactive drama horror from Supermassive Games. With a killer on the loose, you take control of 8 young adults trapped in an isolated mountain lodge.

As a player, you shape each friend’s relationship and fate through every choice you make. With some genuinely ingenious gameplay mechanics (you have to keep your controller completely still when hiding), this game is perfect for slasher movie fans and horror enthusiasts alike.

If you want to find out who survives Until Dawn, those lucky few of us that own a PS5 with a PS Plus subscription can download the game for free thanks to the PlayStation Plus collection.

If you’re still on PS4 like the rest of us plebs, you can grab Until Dawn for a mere £7.99/$9.99 and also available on PS Now.

6. Outlast 2

Building on the success of its predecessor, Outlast 2 has heaps of atmosphere.

Playing as a journalist, you’re separated from your wife when your helicopter crashes deep in the Arizona desert.

You must run, hide and sneak your way through the dilapidated village now inhabited by a deranged cult.

While perhaps not as frightening as the first game, Outlast 2 still offers a great survival horror experience. It’s also a steal at only £4.99/$5.99 in the PlayStation store Halloween sale.

5. Outlast

Outlast may be dirt cheap in the PlayStation Halloween sale, but you’ll also need to budget for spare underwear. Red Barrel’s terrifying survivor horror game challenges you to explore the horrors of an abandoned mental asylum.

Playing as investigative journalist, Miles Upshur, you navigate your way through the labyrinthine institution armed only with your night-vision camera.

Your only chance to escape is to run and hide, but watch out you don’t drain those batteries too fast.

Currently on sale for a measly £3.09/$3.99, you’d be mad not to check it out.

4. Amnesia Collection

The Amnesia Collection is stupidly good value considering you get all three titles in the series.

This includes Amnesia: Dark Descent, the expansion Amnesia: Justine and the sequel Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.

If you’ve never played these games, they’re considered something of a classic that greatly influenced survival horror. While they may feel a little dated thanks to many imitations, there’s no denying the oppressive atmosphere they create.

Blending some puzzles with narrative exploration, Amnesia keep you glued to the screen – even if you’d rather look away.

At £3.59/$4.49 (or £1.19/$1.49 with a PS Plus subscription), this represents great value for money.

Just make sure you don’t forget.

3. Soma

Another entry from Amnesia developer, Frictional Games, Soma is an existential survival horror set in a remote underwater research facility.

Playing as Simon Jarrett, you find yourself in the facility under strange circumstances, making tough decisions just to survive.

We don’t want to give too much away here, but Soma is a compelling survival horror that questions what it means to be human.

Soma can be yours for the princely sum of £3.59/$4.49 or included with your PS Now subscription.

2. Resident Evil Village

Featuring the internet’s favourite nine-foot Vampire, we couldn’t miss Resident Evil Village off the list.

Players take control of Ethan Winters, who stumbles across a mysterious mutant-filled village while searching for his missing daughter.

The village is flanked by four strongholds controlled by four Lords, each having it’s own distinct flavour of horror, which you must navigate to rescue your daughter.

While some of the strongholds are creepier than others (yes, I’m talking about that scene), Resident Evil Village is a highly accomplished survival horror game that looks absolutely fantastic.

If you fancy a date with Lady Dimitrescu, Resident Evil Village is £31.34/$40.19 in the PlayStation Store Halloween sale.

1. Resident Evil: Biohazard

Last and by no means least, is Resident Evil: Biohazard, a truly terrifying first-person survival horror.

You guide long-suffering Ethan Winters around the backwaters of Louisiana in search of your missing wife. Upon discovering a seemingly abandoned plantation, you soon encounter the mysterious Baker Family who have been missing from the area for some time.

Returning to the series’ roots, Resident Evil: Biohazard features classic exploration and puzzle-solving that will delight long-time fans.

A shift to first-person coupled with high visual fidelity makes for a disturbingly realistic experience that’ll keep you on your toes.

You can pick up Resident Evil: Biohazard in the PlayStation Store Halloween sale for only £7.99/$9.99 or free if you own a PS5 with PS Plus subscription.
